1550 on the Green challenges the status quo of “Class A” office buildings in downtown Houston by offering advanced mechanical systems, efficient floorplates, and enhanced access to natural light and green space. The building’s side-core design and 60 x 60 ft planning module put occupants in closer proximity to daylight than traditional buildings – in the workplace as well as elevator lobbies and toilet rooms. Floor to ceiling glass facades provide expansive views of the 12-acre Discovery Green park to the north and landscaped roof terraces at Floors 12, 20 and 28 help extend the park experience to the building. Great care was taken in the design of the ground level to engage the development with the park, sports venues, convention center, hotels, office and retail spaces in the active Discovery Green area of downtown Houston. Patrons enter a restaurant and a coffee bar through articulated retail storefronts fronting undulating sidewalks and landscape that face the park.
Amenities include a conference and event floor located on the top floor of the tower, roof terraces, and a fitness center. Parking is provided in two below-grade and six above-grade levels. 1550 on the Green is one of Texas’ most sustainable buildings. In addition to being certified LEED Platinum, the project tracked embodied carbon during design and construction to achieve significant reductions in embodied carbon when compared to industry baseline values. Indoor air quality is enhanced by using air-handling technologies that provide 30% more fresh air than traditional office buildings and the ability to provide up to 100% air exchange within one hour.
The project achieved LEED Platinum certified by the USGBC.
The project achieved WELL Platinum certified by the IWBI.
The Project achieved Fitwell 3-star certification.
The Project achieved Wiredscore Platinum certification.
